A Tool to Help Your Prayer Life

tools to evangelize, encourage, equip strengthening believers through helpful resources

Last week I shared a special announcement about a free downloadable resource that will be available each month. It is hard to believe that this is the last day of the first month of a new year! In just a few hours we will conclude January of 2017. My prayer is that you have not only made a good start to this year, but that you will continue to make every day count for Christ! With that in mind, I would like to make available to you the first of this year’s “Tools to Strengthen Believers.” Several years ago as I studied the life of Daniel the Holy Spirit drew my attention to the fact that the devil tried to get…

We Need Your Help

Tomorrow we will drive to Gray, Tennessee. At 2:00 p.m., Saturday we will be part of a special prayer rally with churches from around the Tri-Cities. For weeks we have been talking and praying with pastors. Our burden is simple: to see souls saved and to train soul winners. True revival among believers always leads to a gospel advance. We need your help. Will you help us? Please pray. Pray for the faithful pastors and churches in this region. Pray for the effort to get the gospel to every household. Pray for a spiritual awakening. If possible, pause and join us in prayer wherever you are between 2:00 and 4:00 this Saturday. Help us in prayer for the next 90…

Our February Itinerary and A Personal Word

Scott Pauley Bible Preaching Slide

I want to thank you for taking time to read the posts on Enjoying the Journey. Thank you for keeping up with our family and praying for us. Every week I meet people who are faithfully interceding. Almost daily I hear from individuals who are laboring with us in prayer. There are many more who I do not know, but they are known to God. Thank you. God is answering your prayers. Doors are opening for the gospel. Souls are coming to Christ. God’s people are seeking the Lord for revival in our day. We give God all of the glory! And I know that at the judgment seat of Christ those who have quietly, faithfully done the hard work…

A Special Announcement & New Resources

tools to evangelize, encourage, equip strengthening believers through helpful resources

At the end of this post I have a special announcement to make and a number of free resources to offer you. Permit me to explain why this is on my heart… The battle is real and our Captain has given us weapons with which to fight. Scripture teaches that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:4). Spiritual weapons are few and all-sufficient. We have the truth of the Word of God (Eph. 6:17), the power of the Holy Spirit (Zech. 4:6), and the indwelling Christ (Rom. 8:37). Nothing can substitute for these weapons. However, the believer is not only embroiled in a war, he is also engaged in…

Why You Should Keep A Journal

Recently I encouraged a dear friend who is living through a trial to keep a daily journal of what God is doing in his life. My suggestion grew out of personal experience. On the shelf before me is a stack of leather-bound books. They are deeply personal and very precious to me. Occasionally I sit alone and skim the pages. Many entries were made on bright days, filled with joy. And then there are the others. The more important ones. It is the pages penned in darkness, lines written with tears, that are now the most meaningful. Those were the days God was teaching me the most precious truths about Himself and His grace. Wordsworth once observed that he had…

An Item for Praise and Prayer

Yesterday I had the privilege to speak to a group of pastoral staff men in the church where I am preaching. It was a joy to share with them truths that God and my pastor graciously taught me as a staff member. As I spoke to them I was reminded how truly grateful all of God’s people should be if they have a faithful pastor. Across this land there are hundreds of churches in need of shepherds to feed and lead the flock. If God has provided such a man for your family stop and thank the Lord today. What would it be like NOT to have a pastor? While you are praising God, write a note to your pastor…

What to Do When Everything Changes

This past year has been a year of change in my life. Our home has changed. My work has changed. Schedules, routines, and so much that had been familiar was suddenly very different. Through it all, God has both changed me and reminded me that He never changes. Change is inevitable. Life is constantly changing! The Lord built change into our world and we must not despise it. Change is the unchanging principle in this life. Change never touches God. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Heb. 13:8). Only He can say, “I change not” (Mal. 3:6). Changes can be disorienting, even when you know it is in God’s plan. Your spiritual equilibrium can seem…

How to Keep Yourself Stirred

One of the hardest things in serving the Lord is keeping your own heart stirred about the work you have been given to do. We all struggle with it. It is called flesh. Flesh is weak. Flesh grows weary. You cannot trust the flesh. It is not difficult to get stirred – it is difficult to stay stirred! Without a doubt, emotions will come and go. There is an ebb and flow to life and ministry. But the Lord’s laborers should work to stay enthused about the most important work in the world – God’s work. Some people run from meeting to meeting always trying to find the formula. Others depend on some motivational speaker or leader to pump them up, prime…

We Need More Evangelists!

gospel icon globe world

We do not need more sermonizers, organizers, and motivators. We need more evangelists. Not just the kind who travel from place to place preaching in meetings. Our world is in desperate need for gospel consumed, Spirit-controlled, eternity conscious believers. People passionate about reaching souls for the Lord Jesus Christ. Evangelists. The work of evangelism is not just for evangelists. In fact, most evangelism will never be done within the confines of a church building or in the structure of an evangelistic crusade. The gospel is most effective one on one…just like Jesus deals with every sinner. Evangelism is one recipient of the good news sharing that good news with someone else. The word evangelism is rooted in the word “evangel,” literally,…

What I Have Learned in My First Year of Evangelism

It has been a privilege this week to take part in a special conference on revival and evangelism. I have enjoyed the fellowship with a number of wonderful evangelists and pastors, and have been honored to labor alongside men who have been in this work for so many years. As the meeting concludes today my heart and mind are full of the goodness of the Lord. This month our family begins the second year of full-time evangelistic work. The adventure of following the Lord is never dull! I have been reflecting a great deal about what the Lord has taught me over the last year. Many of the lessons are reminders of truths previously learned. (I can be a slow learner!)…
