A Free Resource for a Month Of Thanks

tools to evangelize, encourage, equip strengthening believers through helpful resources

Dr. Bob Jones, Sr. used to say, “When gratitude dies on the altar of a man’s heart he is well-nigh gone.” There is no way to underestimate the power of thankfulness, in a heart or in a home! For believers, thanksgiving should not be a single day – it should be a way of life. Later in November millions of people will set aside a day to reflect on their blessings and give thanks. What a powerful thing it would be if we gave an entire month to thanksgiving. At least the part that matters…I don’t think we could handle that much turkey or football for a month! As many of you know, we have been offering free, monthly, downloadable…

10 Ways to Begin Bringing Others to Jesus

Scott Pauley

Have you ever had the joy of sharing Christ with someone and seeing that person come to know the Lord as their personal Savior? There is nothing in this world like it! We know that Jesus said, “ye shall be witnesses unto me” (Acts 1:8). How do we do what Jesus said? Everywhere I go people say to me, “I really want to bring someone to Christ, but I just don’t know where to start.” Let me give you a few ideas that you can put into practice today… Create a soul winning prayer list. Write down the names of those that you know need Christ and commit to pray for them every day. Ask the Lord to use you…

A New Song – An Eternal Message

Frequently in my sermons I tell the story of some great Christian hymn. The background to a song often opens up the message in a more meaningful way. I am currently reading Al Smith’s Treasury of Hymn Histories and my heart has been blessed again by the way God works in the hearts of His people and the songs that grow out of those experiences. Sadly, very few hymns are written today. Even fewer are rooted in Scripture. It is rare and refreshing to hear a new song that is deeply grounded in the truth of God’s Word. The term “gospel” has come to describe more a style of music than the substance of the song. I believe the word…

5 Prayers of the Evangelist

The service had just ended and an older woman whom I did not know came to speak to me. She told me that she prays for me and for my family every day. I cannot think of anything more encouraging than that! Then she asked the question that few people ever ask. It revealed a discernment about the Lord and prayer. “I don’t want to just pray general prayers. What can I pray about specifically?” Great question. Specific prayers get specific answers. I have a list of fellow evangelists who I try to pray for regularly. Yet I have found that it is far better to pray for a definite need than it is to simply call a name. As…

A Simple Principle That Has Had A Profound Effect On My Life

Dr. Frank Sells was one of my favorite Bible teachers. I can see him now, sitting on the platform, in his own conversational way showing some of the most powerful truths I have ever seen in the Word of God. Many of his statements were, as one author said, “velvet covered bricks.” They landed gently but made a huge impression on the life. In fact, I find myself quoting Dr. Sells almost every week. One of his famous statements was, “Truth is not found in the acceptance of one extreme or the other; often it is found in the acceptance of both.” One truth never cancels out another. Do we believe in the sovereignty of God or the free will…

Suicide is More Than A Statistic

Scott Pauley

Suicide is up 300% from my father’s generation. Over the last few months I have read an alarming number of articles on the suicide rate in our nation. A quick Google search will reveal that suicide is on the rise in almost every region – and most alarming, it is on the rise among pre-teens. Would it surprise you to know that a number of the greatest people in the Bible at one time thought they would rather die than live? Job gave up on life. Elijah prayed to die. Moses wanted the Lord to kill him. Jeremiah said he wished he had never been born. Jonah thought death was better than life. What a list! Yes, good people sometimes…

tools to evangelize, encourage, equip strengthening believers through helpful resources

What is the greatest thing in all the world? Henry Drummond was a Scottish evangelist who was mightily used of the Lord. D.L. Moody called him the most Christ-like young man he ever knew. Though I cannot endorse everything that Drummond wrote, I wholeheartedly recommend to you his commentary on 1 Corinthians 13. Many Bible students believe that Henry Drummond’s, The Greatest Thing In All the World, is the finest thing ever written – the defining work – on the love of God. Personally God has used it in my own life. It is more than comforting; it is convicting. We desperately need a revival of the love of God in hearts, homes, and churches. It is the only thing that…

Could I Make A Recommendation?

GO Resource Training Kit

Are you looking for a study that will stir your heart for the advancement of the gospel? Are you interested in a brief series on witnessing that could be used in a Sunday School class, youth group, or small Bible study? Are you needing a training resource to prepare believers to share their faith? It was my great joy recently to write five lessons that place an emphasis on this very thing. Over the last few days I have heard from a number of pastors who have used the GO Kit in their churches: “Having used the GO series in our church, I highly recommend it to other churches. This is a series that can be used of God to…

Ideas for Keeping Yourself Fresh

Living on the road can be a challenge. In fact, life itself is a challenge! The duties and demands of every day. The pull and pressure of people. Draw from many wells and there will always be a fresh supply of truths to meditate on. Spend time with those who sharpen you. Sincere conversation with a…
