Do You Have A Favorite Book Of The Bible?

By Scott Pauley | December 23, 2018 | 3 Comments

As many of you know, my favorite book of the Bible is the New Testament book of Philippians. But, like one of my college professors, I too would have to say that my favorite book of the Bible is whichever one I am studying at the time! “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable…” The gospel records receive a great deal of attention at this particular time of year because of the emphasis on the birth of Christ. However, our attention on the life, ministry, and lasting work of the Lord Jesus should not be limited to one season! We need to walk closely with our Savior every day. For several years I have tried to…

The Greatest Giver

By Scott Pauley | December 20, 2018 | 0 Comments

As a boy my dad taught me that there are two types of people in the world: takers and givers. Our world is full of takers, but givers are the ones who make a real difference. These are the ones who live Christ’s way, “it is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). What is the greatest gift you have ever been given? More importantly, who is the greatest giver you have every known? Perhaps most important, would anyone think of you?!? Every true giver on earth simply reflects something of the first Giver. Our great God is the greatest giver in every way… The length of His giving Christmas is known around the world as a time…

Reflections On The Death Of My Childhood Friend

By Scott Pauley | December 19, 2018 | 10 Comments

Last night I was asked to share a few thoughts at a memorial service for one of my childhood friends. Ramie and I attended kindergarten through high school together. He was my friend and now, at age 42, he is with Jesus. He leaves behind two beautiful little girls, a grieving mother, and a host of friends. He leaves behind precious children that he instructed and influenced through his work. And he left behind something else for me…a reminder that life is brief and we have a short time to make it count. Since his home going I have been thinking about Moses’ words in Psalm 90:10, life “is soon cut off, and we fly away.” Last week I noticed a timbering…

I Didn’t Expect This

By Scott Pauley | December 17, 2018 | 0 Comments

When I first went into evangelism a dear friend serving in a “closed country” asked if I would ever consider having a podcast. I must confess that at the time I barely knew what a podcast was! She explained to me and my wife that most Christian programming and preaching is blocked in that part of the world, but podcasts were available. A few months later pastor who directs a local Christian radio station asked if I would be willing to take a ten minute daily radio slot. The Lord began to connect opportunities and people as only He can do. There is nothing quite like watching the providence of God at work! With the help of friends I began…

A Helpful Article And A Truth We All Need

By Scott Pauley | December 15, 2018 | 0 Comments

Occasionally I enjoy passing along a resource that has been a blessing to me. My friend Dan Cox from New Smyrna Beach, FL has written a thought-provoking article on the difference between seeking goodness from God and greatness in the eyes of men. Just this week I read in Charles Spurgeon’s The Soulwinner these words: “In our beginnings we are too fine to be fit, or too great to be good.” Too great to be good. It is a truth that every generation of God’s servants must learn. I hope you will be challenged by these thoughts shared by permission from Pastor Cox… If the Lord Jesus set before you today the option of being a great man with a great…
