The King Is Coming!
What are you expecting to happen next in our world? Every day brings new challenges and changing circumstances. I cannot tell you what the government will do, how the economy will respond, or when the pandemic will end. But what I do know is what the Bible tells us – The King Is Coming! God’s people should not be looking down, they should be looking up. Our future is not disaster but deliverance, and we are watching for the coming of our Christ, not the antichrist! Any moment the Lord Jesus is coming for His own. The last book of the Bible tells us the story of both the end of this world and the beginning of eternity with our…

Everyone has their favorite media platform to stream content – there are certainly plenty to choose from! Our daily broadcast is heard on a number of radio stations across the country, internet radio, and a variety of podcast platforms. Over the last year we have also been able to add Enjoying the Journey to Pandora, TuneIn, iHeart Radio, Spotify, and Stitcher. The Next Step in 2021 During the Christmas and New Year season we decided to share some archived episodes on our YouTube channel and soon discovered that some people enjoy listening there as well. One benefit of this platform is that you can easily share the episodes to other devices in your home (such as a smart tv). Also,…
Read More“Just Use My Name.”
In times of need it is wonderful to know someone who has abundant resources. A friend may send you to another with the instructions: “Just use my name.” They mean of course that you have access to supply on their good credit. I am convinced that most believers do not sufficiently appreciate nor appropriate our Lord’s name. His name is greater than every need! Recently as I read through the High-Priestly prayer of Jesus in John 17 I was struck by the emphasis He placed on God’s name… “I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word” (vs. 6).…
Read More12 Days of Christmas!
Go ahead and sing it – you know the words! We have always had a lot of fun singing and acting out the old Christmas classic The Twelve Days of Christmas. This English Christmas Carol was based on the twelve days of Christmas celebration that actually began on December 25 and ended on January 5. While the lyrics have changed some through the years and there is debate over the exact meaning of each line, one thought permeates the song: each day and each gift is a reminder that someone truly loves you. Did you know that Christmas is only 12 days from today? What a wonderful thing it would be if over the next twelve days we meditated each…
Read MoreA CORRECTION
It is always an encouragement to hear from friends who are studying God’s Word with us each day on Enjoying the Journey. I just received a very kind email question from a man who listens to the daily broadcast. His question prompted me to go back and review one of last week’s episodes on the name of God. On Friday we looked at the Hebrew name El Olam which is introduced to us in the story of Abraham and Abimelech. Our study concentrated on the beginning of that story in Genesis 20:13. During the broadcast I stated that the name for God that Abraham used was El Olam – “the everlasting God.” While that is true, he did not use…
Read MoreChange of Plans!
Change of plans – we have all heard those words a lot this year! On this day we had planned to be touring the land of the Bible. God knew all along that those plans would change. Proverbs 16:9 says it best, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” It is a wonderful rest for a Christian to realize that every step (and stop) are in the Lord’s hands. While international travel restrictions have prevented us from being in Israel right now, I am happy to tell you that we are planning to be there one year from now and would love for you to go with us! We still have a handful of spots open for…
Read MoreA Gift for Giving Tuesday
Yesterday was the day that Americans spent all of their money online and today is the day they are encouraged to give whatever they have left over to worthy causes! All joking aside, I think Giving Tuesday is a good thing. God’s people are taught the principles of giving throughout the Word of God and, for believers, they are in effect every day. It has always been my conviction that no charitable giving should take away from the tithe and offering that believers should give through their local churches. The work of the Lord through your church needs your faithful involvement more now than ever. As I have read the life and ministry of D.L. Moody it has been encouraging…
Read MoreTHE NAME
There is no name like the name of our great God! The apostles said of the name of Jesus, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). We are told in Philippians 2:9, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.” I say again: There is no name like THE NAME! The varied names and titles of God found throughout Scripture are full of meaning. They are more than identification – they are a revelation of the very character of our Lord. The name of God is connected to the nature of God. As…
Read MoreThankful In Difficult Days
God’s people are commanded to give thanks at all times and in all circumstances – not when we feel like it. Praise is a choice and gratitude is a discipline. Thanks doesn’t begin in the emotion, it begins in the will. Will we obey? “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20). “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Every good fruit grows in the garden of gratitude. When we give God thanks the Lord works in every direction… Only God gets the glory. Praise is a humbling thing, a recognition that we are…
