Enjoying the Journey

I Would Appreciate Your Help!

One of the great joys of my life is the fellowship and friendship we enjoy with the people of God. There is nothing like being in the greatest family on earth! I am very grateful for the connections the Lord continues to give us with His people around the world and the partnership we have in the work of the gospel. I want to ask if you would be willing to help me with a special project that God has given us. As most of you know, during the COVID-19 travel ban we were restricted from a number of scheduled meetings. Yet in the good providence of God it was during that time that the Lord allowed me to write…

Our July Itinerary & An Update On Two Special Meetings

Change is a reality of life and we have had plenty of reality over the last few months! These are strange but exciting days to be serving the Lord. With God there is always the adventure of faith and the certainty of His guidance. Though the summer schedule is much different than the “norm” we can see the Lord’s hand at each turn. On behalf of our family we want to thank you for your continued prayers and encouragement. It has meant a great deal to us to have so many friends keeping up with us at this time. May God bless each of you. Plan to join us in one of these meetings in the coming month if possible……

A Moment for The Gospel

Earlier this week I posted 5 Books to Read on Witnessing. In this season of “social distancing” and health fears it is possible that we could all lose sight of the greatest danger – souls being eternally lost. It would be a tragedy if, while we give attention to physical things, we neglect spiritual realities. People are dying every day in their sins and God’s people have the cure. A few days ago I was preaching in another state. The pastor and a couple of ministry interns said that they were going out to speak to people door to door about the Lord. They were, of course, using every precaution and speaking to people only on the front steps of…

An Announcement I Am Excited To Share

America is in desperate need of revival. Our nation needs the healing that only God’s holy presence can bring. But great awakenings never begin as national movements – they begin as personal meetings with God. Spiritual awakenings come when God’s people connect their prayers to God’s purpose. I am frequently asked when I plan to write a book. Through the years I have learned that speaking and writing are very different! Pastor Sexton gave me two pieces of advice early on: begin with small writing projects and don’t publish anything until you are 40. Wise counsel. I began nine years ago writing short articles on our Enjoying the Journey blog. Now, at 43 years of age, I am burdened to…

Our June Itinerary & A Special Announcement

“Truly God is good…it is good for me to draw near to God” (Ps. 73:1, 28). In these unusual days I am reminded that God is good, and that it is good for me to stay as close to Him as possible! Thank you for continuing to pray for us as we seek to fulfill the call of God to preach the gospel, teach the Bible, encourage churches, and help pastors. We sense your prayers and see answers to them every day. This month has been full of drive-in meetings, recorded messages, and online services. These are unique times! You may be interested in watching some of the messages given for churches across the country. They are available on our…

An Update On This Year’s God Bless America Rally

As many of you know we have been praying and working for some time toward a regional God Bless America Rally in our “Jerusalem” of southern West Virginia. 33 churches are laboring together for this gospel effort and there is a real expectancy about what the Lord will do! This is a pivotal time in our nation and people are searching. With the COVID-19 concerns large gatherings have become impossible for a period of time. The very people we want to reach – the unchurched and unevangelized – will be hesitant to come to any mass meeting for the next few weeks. Our door to door effort leading up to the crusade would also be very difficult. God has led…

Looking Ahead To May

Someone said that man plans and God laughs. Scripture says it better, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps” (Proverbs 16:9). In recent weeks we have all been reminded that we may schedule and plan but the final direction is given by God alone. While our itinerary over the last days has been totally changed, in many ways, God has opened up avenues of ministry that we could have never foreseen or planned. In the last month I have had the opportunity of preaching and teaching God’s Word about 40 times through either recorded messages, drive-in meetings, or live online platforms. Only the Lord could have orchestrated this and we praise His name! I am…

The Greatest Gospel Moment In A Generation

My grandpa remembered where he was when Pearl Harbor was attacked. My dad remembers where he was when JFK was shot. I remember where I was when the planes hit the World Trade Center on 9/11. My children will remember the global pandemic of 2020. There are moments in every generation that fix themselves forever in our memory. Over 100,000 people have now died around the world from COVID-19. Many more have been awakened to their mortality and frailty. We all are thinking more about life and eternity. People are asking questions, reading Bibles, watching church services online, and wondering what the future holds. I believe we are living in the greatest gospel moment in a generation. On this Easter…

Help Us Reach A Major City With The Gospel…

Just a few days ago it was my privilege to be back in our nation’s capitol. Washington D.C. is more than the seat of government for our country – it is a city with millions of eternal souls. Sometimes in the frustration with politics it is easy to forget that souls are at stake. National monuments and memorials will not last forever, but people will. Pastor Mike Creed and a number of others are burdened to get the gospel to this great urban area. They are concentrating on the D.C. Metro system which has 626,000 riders every day. They are launching the Metro Bible Project this year with a goal of getting a half a million New Testaments into the…

The Strangest Schedule We Have Ever Posted!

Tomorrow we begin a brand new month. April is usually filled with revival meetings and Bible conferences, but the Lord has allowed a much different itinerary. Like most of you, our travel is limited and work is adjusted because of the global pandemic. I am not discouraged or worried. In fact, I have great peace in my heart! The Lord is at work when we are not. He is working in this world and He is working in us. Praise His holy name. We may be confined to home but the Holy Spirit is on the move and the Word of God is not bound (2 Timothy 2:9). Our God is not limited by our inability, our resources, or our…
