Enjoying the Journey
Last night I preached in a tent meeting on “It’s Prayer Time In America.” Yes, these are turbulent times, political times, chaotic times, dark times – but, for the people of God, it is prayer time! If ever there was a nation and a generation that needed to seek the Lord it is ours…and it is now.
I am especially excited about the 2020 Southwide Baptist Fellowship. This gathering is simply a time for preachers to hear preaching, encourage one another, and pray together. (View the full schedule of speakers now.) The theme this year is “And When They Had Prayed” from Acts 4:31. Like the early church, the situation today is critical but God is able. Throughout history when His people pray they see Him work.
Would you join us? On Monday – Wednesday, October 12 -14 we will meet at the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, NC. Every day there will be special prayer meetings and in each session we will spend time praying together for the spiritual awakening that only God can send.
- Please register at southwidebaptist.org. In addition to a special resource bag, everyone who registers in advance will receive a voucher when you arrive that will allow you to get a copy of my hardback book Revival Praying and the new Companion Bible Study Guide for $5. We hope this will be a tool that will encourage you and those you are leading in prayer.
- Join us in praying expectantly for the meeting next month. Ask the Lord to meet with us and set something in motion for His own glory in each of our lives and churches.
- Encourage others to come with you. Many pastors, evangelists, missionaries, and Christian workers attend each year, but the meetings are open to everyone and I believe it will be a refreshing three days for all who come.
- Plan to be there for the opening meeting on Monday night, October 12 at 7 pm and stay through the closing meeting on Wednesday night, October 14.
Pastor Frank Shumate, Co-Pastor Matt Morrison, and the kind folks at Gospel Light are working hard to prepare for the meeting and will be gracious hosts. Some meals will be provided and helpful resources will be available in the exhibit hall. This will be a refreshing time!
This year’s moderator, Pastor Kevan Bartlett, and I want to extend to you a personal invitation. We hope to see you in Walkertown next month!
