Enjoying the Journey
Have you wondered in recent weeks what more you can do for your country? On this President’s Day I am excited to announce the publication of a new booklet, The Need of Our Nation. We all are concerned about the direction of our beloved nation and burdened to see a spiritual awakening in our day. This short volume addresses, from God’s Word, the core issue and the only solution.
President’s Day was originally set aside to commemorate the birthday of the first president of the United States. For believers, it is also a reminder to pray for our president every day (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Every president is just a man, and like every man, he is a sinner in need of prayer. There has never been a time in our country where prayer warriors were more desperately needed than now.
We are very grateful for the circulation of Revival Praying last year and hope that The Need of Our Nation will help connect that emphasis to the current situation in our country and engage many more in the vital work of intercessory prayer. God is always looking for intercessors – those who will “watch and pray” for souls.
I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.Isaiah 62:6-7
America and Israel are not the same nation, but they have the same need – people who know how to pray. On the cover of The Need of Our Nation is a picture of President Washington kneeling in prayer. Washington was not just a politician; he was a man of fervent prayer. 232 years after his first inauguration this is still the greatest need in our nation – people who know how to pray.
There is a difference between patriotism and spirituality. A man may be a patriot but be full of flesh and not the Spirit. However, a truly Spirit-filled man will always love his country and desire that his “kinsmen” come to Christ. It is my conviction that followers of Jesus should lead the way in this nation for truth and righteousness.
Will you join us?
The Need of Our Nation has been designed as a short paperback so that it can be easily passed along to anyone. I want to encourage you to order several copies and give them to many who are burdened. Enlist others in the greatest work in the world, the work of intercessory prayer. This is something we all can do.
- Give it to every family in your church this year for July 4 or the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
- Ask friends and family to read it with you and allow it to prompt hopeful discussions about what God can do.
- Use this revival resource in your Bible study or prayer group.
May God use it to be a great blessing to the Lord’s people and to bring God’s continued blessing upon our nation.
