Our March Prayer List

Life is not about things “to-do” but about things “to-pray” for. Every event should be an opportunity to pray. The calendar should become part of our prayer list! As I look over our schedule week by week I am praying that in every place the Lord Jesus will be glorified, the Holy Spirit will have liberty, and the Father will be pleased. Would you join me in that prayer for the month ahead? Sunday-Tuesday, March 3-5 – Revival, Community Baptist Church, Lenoir City, TN, Pastor Ken Scoggins Monday, March 4 – Chapel, The Crown College, Powell, TN, Dr. Clarence Sexton Sunday-Tuesday, March 10-12 – Revival, Truth Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, VA, Pastor Erik Hastings Sunday, March 17 – Morning and Evening…

Help Us Pray!

This afternoon I am helping to conduct a prayer rally in the Akron-Canton, Ohio area. This meeting with churches from around the region is for one purpose: to set ourselves right with God and to seek God’s face for revival and the advancement of the gospel. Will you help us pray? Today’s prayer meeting is part of preparation for the God Bless America Rally that will be conducted here in Stark County, Ohio on May 1-4, 2019. I look forward to being back to preach in that meeting. But I am convinced that the preaching is in vain without the praying. The first meeting in the book of Acts was a prayer meeting, and all of the preaching and all…

An Open Door To Reach The Colleges And Universities Of America

One of the early gospel efforts Tammy and I were privileged to serve in at Temple Baptist Church was the Christian Volunteers ministry on the campus of the University of Tennessee. During that time over twenty years ago God stirred a deep burden in my heart to reach college students for Christ. Kyle Austin also caught that passion and has now committed himself to helping local churches begin Collegians For Christ chapters at universities and colleges across America. I am happy to share his guest post and hope that you will pray about how God could use you to take the truth to your local campus and touch the world… Where can you go to reach America and its future leaders? Where can you go to reach atheists and agnostics from all over the world? What about Muslims from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, or Iran? What about Buddhists and…

A Guest Post From My Wife

Throughout this year I have had a number of guest authors on our blog. This one is my favorite. I thank the Lord for my sweet wife. Tammy is a precious helpmeet to me and a wonderful mother to our three children. She has been an inestimable blessing in the work God has called us to do. The Lord has worked in her life and through her in our home. After three years she has written down a few of her reflections. I am happy to share this letter from my wife… Three years ago the Lord worked in our family to step out into evangelism. Transitions are always challenging for a family but through this time the Lord has worked in…

Giving Tuesday

Across the U.S. the Tuesday after Thanksgiving has come to be known as “giving Tuesday,” an opportunity to help the needy and invest in charitable causes. There are many ministries that are being used of God to reach and teach people for Christ. Tammy and I are very happy to have a part in supporting others who are making an eternal difference. It is my conviction that Christian giving should begin with paying the tithe and bringing offerings through your local, New Testament church. This is God’s way (1 Corinthians 16:1-2, 2 Corinthians 8). Believers should not take money from the place where God has placed them in order to give somewhere else. At the same time, the Lord prospers…

5 Suggestions For Being A Better Witness During The Holidays

Over the next six weeks believers will have more opportunities to witness than perhaps at any other time of the year. Even secular people tend to think about spiritual things more during Thanksgiving and Christmas. For believers every day is a gospel day, but some days provide special open doors to unbelievers. We must not miss these times. How can we all be more effective witnesses? Don’t give a presentation – have a conversation. Speak to others as a real person talking to real people about another real Person! Stiff, formal, religious talks are not effective in reaching the lost. Avoid debate and argument. Simply, kindly tell others about the Lord Jesus Christ. He is enough. (Read more about his…

Every Day A Gospel Day!

In the Old Testament the holy day was Saturday, the Sabbath. New Testament believers gather to celebrate the risen Christ on Sunday, the first day of the week. I am writing these words on a Monday. This article will publish on a Wednesday. You may be reading it on another day. The truth is…it doesn’t matter what day it is. God is the same every day. The Apostle Paul wrote to a group of people who were divided over the significance of certain days, “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). Every day is a holy day for those who live in the…
