Enjoying the Journey

We are so excited about the Conference On Revival And Evangelism (CORE) , January 7-9, 2020. This is a powerful way to begin a new year of ministry. Frequently I am asked if I plan to continue in evangelism, if I want to pastor, or if I miss what I did in the past. They are good questions that all have the same answer. I love what God has given me to do and plan to do it as long as God desires. As I have reflected on the work God has called us to do these are my thoughts… I am doing what I am doing because I want to get the gospel to as many people as possible. I love the work of the gospel. I am doing what I am doing because I want to give my time and energy to getting God’s Word into…

The last few weeks have been some of the busiest and most blessed we have seen in our evangelistic work. I know this is due to the Lord’s grace and the faithful prayers of so many people. With the intense schedule I have not posted as many articles as normal. We hope to return to that shortly! But I wanted to pass along a few answers to prayer and encourage you with what God is doing… The Lord has given a spirit of revival in a number of local churches in different parts of the country. I am often asked what we see frequently in churches. Right now there is a spiritual hunger among many of the Lord’s people. God…

Today I leave for a 10 day preaching trip. The Lord is helping us and we are seeing His hand. At the same time there is always spiritual warfare because everything God ordains, Satan opposes! The “great door” and the “many adversaries” always go together (1 Corinthians 16:9). I know that I need the Lord as never before. And I need your prayers. Between revival meetings in Colorado and Georgia it is my privilege to preach the gospel at the God Bless America Rally in Canton, Ohio, on May 1-4. My friend Byron Foxx and I have been humbled to see the fervent prayers and diligent labor of God’s people from 16 sponsoring churches. The Lord is stirring some things…

Gospel literature is one means of communicating the message of Christ to great numbers of people one at a time. Imagine how many people could be reached if every believer simply carried tracts and gave them out as they went about their normal routines! The power of the literature is not in the words of men, but in getting the Word of God into the hands and hearts of those who may not otherwise receive it. Tracts remind the believer to be soul conscious. Just carrying gospel literature encourages us to think of eternal things. We must live like followers of Jesus if we intend to share Him. We must constantly be on the lookout for people who need a…

Recently I have had several kind believers come to me in meetings and ask, “What can we pray for you and your family specifically?” Nothing could be more encouraging! Such a question reveals that the people are not simply saying they will pray, but that they plan to pray – and pray specifically. The Lord Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7). Each verb grows more intense. Each command teaches us something about effective prayer… Ask: pray definite prayers. Seek: pray expectant prayers. Knock: pray persistent prayers. The thing for which I am praying right now is for souls to be saved. Many…

Life is not about things “to-do” but about things “to-pray” for. Every event should be an opportunity to pray. The calendar should become part of our prayer list! As I look over our schedule week by week I am praying that in every place the Lord Jesus will be glorified, the Holy Spirit will have liberty, and the Father will be pleased. Would you join me in that prayer for the month ahead? Sunday-Tuesday, March 3-5 – Revival, Community Baptist Church, Lenoir City, TN, Pastor Ken Scoggins Monday, March 4 – Chapel, The Crown College, Powell, TN, Dr. Clarence Sexton Sunday-Tuesday, March 10-12 – Revival, Truth Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, VA, Pastor Erik Hastings Sunday, March 17 – Morning and Evening…
