Enjoying the Journey

Yesterday we concluded the first stage of our journey through the Psalms. The Genesis Psalms, Psalm 1-41, help us to see God as the beginning of all good things. I have greatly enjoyed the trip so far! Today we take a brief stop before continuing our journey. Along the path of life sometimes the Lord orchestrates rest stops, detours, and brief side trips. I am learning that these are purposeful and help to prepare you for the road ahead. One of the psalms we have just studied reminds us, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way” (Psalm 37:25). George Mueller said as he meditated on this verse the Holy Spirit…

This week we concluded our series on The Great Journey’s of the Bible. The Lord has been so gracious to allow us to study Scripture with people around the world through the daily podcast. I continually hear from friends, many of whom I may not meet until heaven, who are getting into the Word of God and growing in their faith. We are praying that this will only increase in the days ahead. Our next Bible study is one that I have been looking forward to for some time. Beginning Monday we will be walking through the Psalms – all 150 of them! This extended series will be divided into five parts, corresponding with the five divisions of the book…

It is amazing how sometimes the most far reaching things are the ones we did not plan at all. Several people have asked me recently how our daily Enjoying The Journey programming began. It was not a big idea or some personal vision. Instead, it was the providential work of God. A conversation. An open door. A friend to help. Isn’t it wonderful to watch the Lord at work? Now after two full years we are thrilled to see the daily growth of listeners both through the podcast platform and the radio audience. Over the last few days we have heard from a number of people who have started to study God’s Word with us and have written to tell…

Our world has some mixed up ideas about love! The devil and the flesh always try to pervert what is perfect. Only the God who is love can teach us how to love. God’s love is deep and wide. It is inexhaustible and infinite – because God is. It is greater than our sin. Greater than our conflicts and divisions. Greater than our prejudices and anger. The further we go with the Lord the deeper we enter in to His love. Today we conclude part 1 of our podcast series on the Great Journeys Of the Bible. (If you would like to listen to the first 25 episodes on the journeys of the Old Testament you may access the archive…

Today is the first day of a new month, the first day of a new year, and the first day of a new decade. God has allowed us to live to this day and to labor for Him. How blessed we all are! Joshua gave the children of Israel instructions from God as they moved forward. In Joshua 3:4 he said, “that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.” None of us have passed this way before and all of us need divine direction. Someone stated the obvious when they said, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life!” A great year must be lived one…

This is my favorite season of the year! I love the time with family and friends. But the older I get the more I realize that the greatest Christmas blessings are the ones that are wrapped up in Christ. Ones that are priceless and that do not change with the calendar. It is what Paul celebrated when he wrote to Philemon about, “acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ” (Philemon 6). The gift is Christ! The blessings are spiritual. As we study the Word of God we open those gifts, or rather, they are opened to us by the Holy Spirit. At this busiest time of the year beware of living so much in the fray…

Recently God has used a Bible verse in my life in such a profound way that I have chosen it as my “second half verse.” Along the journey there have been hundreds of Scriptures that have given me definite comfort, rebuke, instruction, and guidance. But there have been four verses that I have adopted as my own at different seasons of life. Tomorrow on “Enjoying The Journey” we begin a very brief series that means a great deal to me personally. There are only seven episodes in this series and I hope that you will join us for each of them. One word from God’s Word can change your life forever! Ask the Lord to impress a definite Scripture on…

Today we conclude our podcast series on “What The Bible Says…” I am more convinced than ever that this is a day where we must know what we believe, why we believe it, and how we can share it with others. If you missed any of the episodes you can listen to the entire study here. On Monday we begin a brand new series from 1 Thessalonians 5. It is one of the most practical sections in all of Scripture for a child of God. On one page we find The Lord’s “To Do” List for us. We live by lists in so many areas of life: reminders of what is important. The Christian life cannot be reduced to a…

It is a joy to study God’s Word and a privilege to share it with others. More and more people are joining our daily Enjoying The Journey episodes and we are grateful for the Lord’s blessing. Nothing brings joy like meditating on the very words of the living God! “I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil” (Psalm 119:162). We have just completed a brief study of the book of Hosea. I am continually amazed how a message given to another people thousands of years ago speaks to our spiritual need today! You may listen to these and all of our archived studies at http://podcast.scottpauley.org. On Monday we begin a new series that I am praying will…
