The Next Step On Our Journey

A dear man asked me the other day where we were going next in our “Enjoying the Journey” Bible study. It is a pleasure to walk through Scripture together and to know that many of you are making that journey with us! Here is a brief overview of our next steps… Today’s episode is very special for a couple of reasons. On one hand, it is a brief footnote to our 19 week study in the gospel according to Mark. In addition to that I share some exciting news about our journey to the Holy Land in 2020. We would love to have you join us as we study the Bible in the land of the Bible! Be sure to…

7 Ways To Use The Daily Podcast

Podcasts are a wonderful resource for personal, daily growth. Listening to the faithful teaching of God’s Word has often been used to instruct and inspire me along the way. My prayer for our Enjoying The Journey podcast is that the Lord would use it to help people get into the Word of God for themselves. Nothing should substitute for your own time in the Scriptures! As I travel I continue to meet people who tell me they are “enjoying the journey” in different ways. Here are a few ideas that have been shared with me by regular listeners: A guide for personal devotions. Don’t just listen; open your Bible and follow along! Go beyond the broadcast to meditate and study the passage…

I Didn’t Expect This

When I first went into evangelism a dear friend serving in a “closed country” asked if I would ever consider having a podcast. I must confess that at the time I barely knew what a podcast was! She explained to me and my wife that most Christian programming and preaching is blocked in that part of the world, but podcasts were available. A few months later pastor who directs a local Christian radio station asked if I would be willing to take a ten minute daily radio slot. The Lord began to connect opportunities and people as only He can do. There is nothing quite like watching the providence of God at work! With the help of friends I began…

Announcing A Special Christmas Series!

Can you believe that it is December? The month ahead will be a busy one for families and church families. We must never allow our schedules to crowd out time in the Scripture. Every day is a day to celebrate our Savior and one of the best ways to do so is to spend time with Him each day. Beginning Monday on Enjoying The Journey we will study some of the great Scripture texts about the Lord Jesus Christ. It will be a month of Christmas on the podcast! We hope you will join us as we walk through God’s Word and meditate on our wonderful Savior. Each week we will look at a special part of the Christmas message……

A Season Of Thanks

There are many commands given to God’s people. Each of the Lord’s commands are given for our good and His glory. This is certainly the case for the command most often repeated in Scripture. More than any other admonition in the Word of God we are commanded to praise the Lord! Why does God repeat this so frequently? Praise is purifying. When we begin to praise we come into the presence of the Lord, and His presence purifies every other part of life! Praising Christians are kept happy, holy, and humble. As we enter the month of November there will be much talk of giving thanks. Thanksgiving must be more than a holiday. This season of thanks should be a…

The Next Three Weeks

It has been a great blessing to me personally to meet so many people recently who are listening to Enjoying The Journey each day through the podcast or radio broadcast. God has been gracious to grow the reach of the Bible study over this first year. Many of you have been kind to let us know you are listening. Our most recent episodes have dealt with principles for finding direction and making decisions for life. (If you missed any of these studies you may listen to all of them in our archives.) The next three weeks we will continue this emphasis with a look at my favorite section of the Psalms – Psalms For The Traveler. The Psalms are beloved…

Thanks For Listening!

Eight months ago we took another step on our own journey with the beginning of the Enjoying The Journey podcast. God has been gracious to give us favor and so many of you have been very kind to join us. We have just crossed the threshold of 95,000 listens to the Bible studies! Every where I go I am meeting people who are Enjoying The Journey with us and emails from people in different parts of the world have been a great encouragement. Currently we are studying some of the prayers of the New Testament. Our cry is: “Lord, teach us to pray!” Near the end of September we will begin a brand new series designed to help people make decisions in the will…

“Lord, Teach Us To Pray!”

These words from Luke 11:1 are the prayer that opens the understanding to more prayer. How often we go through the motions and mechanics of prayer but fail to truly connect with Heaven. The adventure of faith, the thrill of communion with the God of the universe, the privilege of affecting eternity awaits…and we are content to simply recite our religious clichés to God! “Lord, teach us to pray!” No, Lord, teach ME to pray! As a preacher I am so deeply convicted that often I have given more attention and interest to what I will say in the pulpit than what I will say in the prayer closet. Believers at every age in life and every stage of maturity…

My New Favorite Bible Character

Do you have a favorite Bible character? Each one has some message for us. They may serve as a positive example or a negative example. At different times, they may be both! Over the last few months I have been spending a lot of time with John the Baptist. He has come alive to me. He is the greatest man born of woman according to Jesus. That’s quite an endorsement. Yet he had his struggles. Even his questions. There are a number of wonderful things written about the life of John the Baptist. One of my personal favorites was written by F.B. Meyer. It has made me think of so many truths. I have decided that our next “Enjoying the…
