How To Pray For The President

Yesterday I opened the USA Today to find a full page ad with the names of a wide range of religious leaders calling for a day of prayer for our President. Sunday, June 2, has been unofficially declared a day of prayer for the President of the United States. I am very happy that many will be praying tomorrow. Believers should in fact be praying every day for their political leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-3). Regardless of who the man is or what your political position – praying Christians should be making intercession for the President. We can take the White House to the Throne of Grace! The question is: How do you pray for a president? Here are a few…

September 2018 Schedule & Prayer List

The month of August has been a month of transition as our oldest daughter, Morgan, has begun college and Lauren and Grant have returned to school. God has graciously allowed me to spend a little extra time at home and with our family during these days. Now we are about to begin a very busy fall season. We publish our schedule month by month along with periodic updates on meetings because of so many people who have expressed interest in praying with us. The purpose of our itinerary is not just for information – it is for intercession! Would you take this month’s schedule of meetings and add it to your prayer list? Sunday, September 2, Morning and Evening Services…

5 Prayers of the Evangelist

The service had just ended and an older woman whom I did not know came to speak to me. She told me that she prays for me and for my family every day. I cannot think of anything more encouraging than that! Then she asked the question that few people ever ask. It revealed a discernment about the Lord and prayer. “I don’t want to just pray general prayers. What can I pray about specifically?” Great question. Specific prayers get specific answers. I have a list of fellow evangelists who I try to pray for regularly. Yet I have found that it is far better to pray for a definite need than it is to simply call a name. As…

Free Resource: A Tool for You and Your Church

partner with us in prayer Icon

In January we began offering a free downloadable resource each month. (If you missed the first one, a 30 day prayer guide, you may access it here.) This month we offer our second tool for believers… Praying for the Preacher Many years ago my pastor taught me that I could have a part in helping all of those the preacher ministers to if I would labor with the preacher in prayer. God will multiply the fruit of your prayers in the lives of so many people! Prayer is the greatest work. “Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf”…

A Tool to Help Your Prayer Life

tools to evangelize, encourage, equip strengthening believers through helpful resources

Last week I shared a special announcement about a free downloadable resource that will be available each month. It is hard to believe that this is the last day of the first month of a new year! In just a few hours we will conclude January of 2017. My prayer is that you have not only made a good start to this year, but that you will continue to make every day count for Christ! With that in mind, I would like to make available to you the first of this year’s “Tools to Strengthen Believers.” Several years ago as I studied the life of Daniel the Holy Spirit drew my attention to the fact that the devil tried to get…

An Aid for Your Prayer Life

Prayer is a help. It is our connection to the great Helper! Prayer is our lifeline to Heaven and the only way to live victoriously on earth. Yet, as surely as I know that prayer helps, it seems that many days I need help to pray! My problem is not that I don’t believe in prayer. Belief does not always behave as it should. I cry out with the disciples, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Lk. 11:1). If this describes your prayer life may I suggest three simple ideas…an AID to your prayer life. A – Adopt a prayer verse. There is power in the Word of God! One verse of Scripture can be used to motivate prayer and increase…

Our Itinerary for January 2016

In a few weeks we will launch a new website. We hope that ScottPauley.org will provide gospel resources as well as encouragement to believers, families, and churches. It will also give us a means to publish our itinerary. Tammy, Morgan, Lauren, Grant, and I hope to see many friends as we conduct meetings over the coming year. Most of all, we are asking those we love to pray for us that God will use us for His glory. Until the website is ready our monthly schedule will be posted here. Please help us pray for the following meetings in January 2016: Sunday morning and evening, January 3 – Rich Creek Baptist Church, Spanishburg, WV, Pastor Ralph Calfee Sunday morning and evening, January…

Keeping Your Prayer Life Fresh

Good things can get stale.  Even our prayer life.  One of the great challenges of using a prayer list is not allowing it to become mechanical.  How many days I have just gone through the motions!  God doesn’t need me to read Him what is on the paper; He wants me to tell Him what is on my heart. Recently the Lord led me to develop a prayer list that would simply remind me each day of needs for which I should pray.  They are really just prayer prompters but they have helped me to keep my prayer time fresh.  I share them with you in the hope that they may help you in some way. It is easy to…

7 Things to Pray for Your Pastor

Everyone expects the pastor to pray for his people.  But pastors need prayer too. In fact, they need much prayer. Their responsibility is great. Satan’s attack strong. We have made a practice of praying for our Pastor every day.  We pray for wisdom, for strength, and protection. We pray for his family. Hundreds of times over the last few years I have asked my Pastor if there was anything I could do for him, only to hear him quietly say, “A lot of prayer.” This is the desire of every true man of God I know. Listen to the words of 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13, “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you…

30 Days of Prayer

“Pray without ceasing.”  1 Thessalonians 5:17 It is significant that the only thing God commands us to do without ceasing is to pray.  Dr. John R. Rice said often that, “All of our failures are prayer failures.”  Every matter in the Christian life grows out of our personal walk with the Lord each day. In Daniel 6, the king of Babylon signed a decree that no man was permitted to pray for 30 days.  Of course, we know that Daniel, who was a man of faithful prayer, could not abide by that for even one day.  He refused to allow anything or anyone to hinder his communion with God. Why would the devil want to halt prayer for 30 days? …
