This is the time of year when so many people become sluggish. Schedules are hectic. The newness of the new year has worn off and the freshness of spring has not yet arrived. Weather is wearying. Illness is rampant. Christmas vacation has long since vanished and summer vacation seems far in the distance. For all of you who have such thoughts and feelings (like we all do at times!) What to Do When You Are Tired

We all get tired.  Even the Lord Jesus in His perfect humanity experienced weariness.  (Read more about that here.)  The best of men in the greatest of works battle fatigue.  Take Elijah for example.  No, not the prophet calling down fire from heaven.  Not the man enjoying God’s provision by the brook Cherith.  Not the minister raising the widow woman’s son.  Look at him depleted and desperate in 1 Kings 19.  Body overworked.  Nerves on edge.  Just tired. God’s preacher had just experienced one of the most amazing victories in history.  Mount Carmel would forever be a point of reference. Disillusionment often comes just after great blessing. Working through Your Weariness

This afternoon I had the privilege to spend a few minutes with some of our staff and faculty at Crown Southwest in Fort Worth, Texas.  I thank God for Christian workers who are diligently seeking to pass God’s Word and work on to another generation.  I shared a simple thought with them that has been a great encouragement to me.  The best workers get tired.  Jesus did.  In His perfect humanity, He still grew weary. John 4:5 tells us that “Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.”  In the middle of the day, in the middle of the work, Jesus grew weary.
